Due to Covid-19, all our bookings are by appointments only.
Treatment at Mind Connections is specially tailored to the patient’s strengths.
Our psychiatric, clinical psychology, children’s psychiatry, geriatrics and mental disorder specialists work with your patients to help them realise their potential and abilities during therapy sessions.
Referring your patients to Mind Connections Specialist Health service is a positive experience for both you and your patient. We accept referrals through fax, Argus, email and a physical copy from your patient.
We are dedicated to ensuring that the patient’s rehabilitation path is a positive one. We have developed a comforting and inviting environment with modern conveniences. Our devoted team and committed specialists ensure that patients have excellent satisfaction ratings with our services from the first interaction with your patient.
Our specialists advise and encourage patients to see you for pathology, x-rays, blood tests and other services. In addition, our professionals create feedback letters to help you through examinations. We prioritise sending feedback letters, which are often completed within two to three days. Our specialists take pleasure in upskilling the primary care sector and sharing care with you.
You may have patients of various ages, including children and adolescents, young and middle-aged people and the elderly. You may even have patients who require specialised group treatment, such as REACH, Schema-based therapy, CBT or EMDR therapy. Our specialists provide treatments based on individual needs rather than “one size fits all” therapy.
You may refer your patients to any of our psychiatrists. Some psychiatrists may have a more extended waiting period than others since they work part-time. However, we recognise that certain patients require immediate appointments. That is where our excellent staff shine. They will help you and your patient schedule an early appointment with one of our psychiatrists who best fits their needs.
If you wish to treat your patient and require a one-time psychiatric examination, diagnosis, and management plan, please request Medicare item 291 service on your referral letter. Depending on the intricacy of the case, the psychiatrist will usually finish the exam in 1 – 3 sessions. Then, our specialists will write a detailed 12 monthly management plan, so you are fully equipped to manage patient’s needs over a timeline.
You may have patients who want advice on old age-specific difficulties and ageing with existing issues. You may need to handle issues such as their ability to drive, financial management, health care and housing. Your patient may have legal concerns such as will and power of attorney.
At Mind Connections, our geriatricians, psychiatrists and psychologists, who specialise in old age, collaborate to ensure that older patients are treated with the respect that they deserve.
A mental health care plan and a letter addressed to the psychologist are always required for an initial referral to a psychologist. After six therapy sessions, our psychologists will provide you with a report.
Some patients may require further sessions. Our psychologists will explain why and request a re-referral to continue future sessions.
We receive Telehealth referrals from remote and rural towns in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland and now spreading to other regions and cities in Australia. Access to specialist care has never been this easy.
Patients with mobility restrictions and high care needs now can access specialist services without travelling. For example, patients who live in residential aged care facilities (RACF) can be referred to telehealth services available through video platforms like Skype.
Not only far away land, patients who live in metropolitan cities also seek telehealth consultations since it saves time driving, waiting and dealing with traffic. These consultations are billed privately, and patients are entitled to a Medicare refund.
You may care for patients in several settings and could have patients managed by third parties. For example, these patients could be from Australian Defence, Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) or Workers Compensation cases. In addition, you might have been requested by the attorney’s office for a patient’s facing civil and criminal proceedings.
To visit a specialist, all of these patients must have their costs pre-approved. In some cases, we may require pre-payments before the consultation with our specialists. Industry standards control our rates, and we follow the Australian Medical Association’s fee structure.
In addition to consultations, 3rd party payers may request reports. Generally, reports are charged on an hourly basis.
